About Emphysema
Emphysema is a chronic lung condition that affects the air sacs (alveoli) in the lungs, reducing their ability to properly exchange oxygen. As these air sacs become damaged, breathing becomes more difficult, especially during physical activity. Patients may experience persistent cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, and fatigue.
The most common cause of emphysema is long-term exposure to cigarette smoke or other respiratory irritants. Although the damage cannot be reversed, early diagnosis and appropriate medical care can help slow disease progression and significantly improve quality of life.
Our goal is to manage symptoms, prevent complications, and support lung function through personalized treatment plans that may include medications, inhalation therapy, and lifestyle modifications such as smoking cessation.
